Emergency Procedures

Understanding how to react in emergency driving situations is crucial for every driver. This section of the course will cover essential emergency procedures, such as what to do if your brakes fail, how to handle a tire blowout, and the steps to take in the event of engine failure. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical tips, learners will be equipped to maintain control of their vehicle during these frightening scenarios, ensuring their safety and the safety of others on the road. Videos and animations will illustrate correct responses to emergencies, reinforcing the learning process and helping students visualize the actions they need to take.

In addition to handling mechanical failures, this module will also address driving in adverse weather conditions, including navigating in heavy rain, snow, ice, and fog. Students will learn the importance of adjusting their driving speed, maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, and using their vehicle’s safety features correctly. By preparing drivers for these situations, the course aims to reduce panic, promote safe driving habits, and decrease the likelihood of accidents in emergency conditions.

Vehicle Maintenance Basics

Basic vehicle maintenance is not only essential for car longevity but also for driver safety. This segment of the course introduces students to fundamental maintenance practices that every driver should know. Topics will include checking oil levels, tire pressure, coolant levels, and understanding when professional servicing is necessary. The course will provide simple, step-by-step instructions on how to perform these checks, alongside the reasoning behind each one, emphasizing how regular maintenance can prevent breakdowns and accidents.

Interactive resources, such as maintenance checklists and how-to videos, will support learners in becoming familiar with their vehicle’s maintenance needs. This knowledge empowers drivers to take proactive steps in caring for their vehicle, ensuring it remains safe to drive and operates efficiently. Additionally, understanding basic maintenance helps drivers identify when their car is not performing correctly, enabling them to seek repairs before minor issues become major problems. This module aims to foster a sense of responsibility and confidence among new drivers, contributing to safer roads for everyone.

Environmental and Fuel-Efficient Driving Practices

In this era of environmental awareness, it’s increasingly important for drivers to adopt fuel-efficient driving habits. This course section will explore the impact of driving on the environment and introduce practical strategies for reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Topics will include the benefits of eco-driving, such as smoother acceleration and deceleration, maintaining steady speeds, and minimizing idling. Students will learn how these practices not only contribute to environmental conservation but also lead to significant savings on fuel costs over time.

The module will also cover the importance of vehicle maintenance in ensuring fuel efficiency, such as regular tire pressure checks and timely oil changes. Interactive quizzes and real-life scenarios will help reinforce learning, encouraging students to apply eco-friendly driving practices in their daily lives. By fostering an understanding of how individual actions can have a positive impact on the planet, this course aims to cultivate a generation of environmentally responsible drivers.

If you’re seeking a New York driver license, you’re required to complete the 5-hour course online or in person before you schedule an appointment for your behind-the-wheel road test.

The New York Online Pre-Licensing Program is for new drivers that are age 18 and up who are seeking a New York driver license. Students must have a photo learner permit before starting the course. Your photo permit will arrive in the mail about two weeks after the NYSDMV issues your temporary permit. These new drivers must complete a 5-hour classroom course.
Yes. Before you can start your online 5-hour course, the NYSDMV requires you to prove you have a valid New York learner permit that includes your photograph. If you have a temporary learner permit with no photo, you must wait until you have a photo permit before you start your training. The NYSDMV issues temporary learner permits to drivers immediately after they pass the written permit exam at a DMV office. After you earn your temporary permit, it takes about two weeks for your photo permit to arrive in the mail.

The 5-hour course provides vital education to new drivers, including rules of the road, and more. Other course topics include:

  • New York vehicle and traffic laws
  • Habits and skills for safe driving
  • Risks of driving under the influence
  • How to drive safely on the highway
  • Aggressive driving and road rage

Upon completion of the course, you’ll know more about the responsibilities of safe drivers and a wide range of factors that can affect your driving.

Yes. The course uses personal security questions as well as a techniques to make sure that no one except the person who registered for the course participates in the program. This identity validation feature allows you to complete your training at your own pace across multiple sessions. Due to DMV standards, you have up to three chances to pass each security checkpoint. If you fail a checkpoint, you will be locked out of the course and will need to re-register. If this occurs, please contact our office.
At the beginning of the course, you will be required to answer a series of multiple-choice security questions. These personal questions will be used to verify your identity throughout your training. For each security checkpoint, one of the questions you previously answered will appear on your screen. You will have 45 seconds to select the correct answer and confirm your identity. If you fail three consecutive attempts to answer a security question, you will be locked out of the course and required to re-register.
