What Is Covered In The New York 5 Hour Pre-Licensing Course

New York’s 5 hour pre-licensing course must be taken prior to scheduling your official ‘on road’ driving test. The course is a mandatory step in getting a driver’s license in New York state.

The course is designed to provide new drivers with the knowledge they need to drive safely and responsibly.

Throughout the course you will learn about New York State traffic laws, defensive driving skills, safe driving behaviors, the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and common risks that new drivers may face.

The course is divided into various sections, with each section pertaining to one specific topic. At the end of each section there is a quiz that will cover what was just learned during that section.

There are many different 5 hour pre-licensing courses offered throughout New York, both in-person and online. It’s fairly common for every course to have some sort of quiz structure at the end of each section or module. On average, users will need to pass any quizzes within a course with at least an 80% success rate.
